Indian Oscar selection committee is a joke!
Sam Ray Sep 24, 2022
The history repeats itself once again the jury Committee of Indian film Federation have proof that they have no capability or capacity to choose the right movies that has to be sent to Oscar's in spite of heavy fanfare across the globe and support of public for the movie RRR they have chosen a movie which has not been heard by anyone .In 2018 the same incident happened when instead of Tumbbad; Gully boy was sent to Oscars. Yesterday, members of jury committee has confirmed that apart from the public opinion and popularity on the box-office there are other criteria is also they are seeing before sending any movies for the Oscars. Hence, an unknown Gujarati movie called "CHELLO SHOW"they have selected . RRR get a wider fanfare across the globe after its global reach on Netflix whole world rave about SS.Rajamouli's extravaganza it has garnered all support from across every continent because of its popularity from the diversified audience. The jury committee has done the same mistake they are doing since ages. A movie that is heavily inspired by Italian masterpiece "CINEMA PARADISO" is going to be send for the best foreign language film category.
In 2005, India sent Paheli as its official entry to the Oscars instead of Black. Same disaster was done in the year 2012 when jury had send highly plagiarized Barfi instead of "Gangs of Wasseypur". In 2013 Irfan Khan starrer The Lunchbox was rejected and a mediocre "The good road" was sent to Oscars.
RRR had already garnered international attention and has a perfect shot at making to the main nomination list. The destiny of Chello Show is conformed it will never be able to go to the main nomination list. As per Indian film selection committee showing a poverty ridden India is the only chance to run for an Oscars. A bunch of bureaucrats thinks focus a camera on an object with no dialogue is the only form of film making. A personal choice of film federation members is imposed and once again a deserving movie has lost its glory.
Why is Darlings the most important movie of 2022?
Sam Ray Sep 2, 2022
This marvel was released on Netflix of 5 August 2022 and takes the narrative about women's oriented movie to the next level. In the 90s we have seen great films such as Damini and Lajja and then there was a long gap in thought-provoking films with a Woman's as the lead.
Why is Darlings the most important movie of 2022? Because it narrates domestic violence in a light-hearted manner with a strong message. Shahrukh Khan Red Chillies production given Kamyaab with Sanjay Mishra last year and this year Darlings, the quality work that very often not being noticed by the major critics or so called award function does not always reflect the common opinion audience love for the quality work always wins.
Director Jasmeet K.Reen managed to grab the most suitable cast Shefali Shah, Alia Bhatt, Vijay Verma and, not to forget Roshan Mathew. Darlings is a movie title that quilt audience mind in curiosity why such a movie title that originates from the slang of the alcoholic loving husband whose diverse personality ended up in beating his wife and later woo her back every morning by cheesy lines. These tactics have been used by Indian men since ages , a society where Women's cope up with such domestic violence until they are not get used to it. Alia Bhatt, Badrunissa or Badru in the movie, inherit the quality of a daily suffered married girl who follows cunning male companion Hamza (Vijay Verma). Hamza's character has been portrayed in such a cunning way, so brilliantly by Verma that you are overjoyed with his tactics. The beauty of this script is, for a change, it highlights the protagonist, a Muslim daughter and mother, and their unique take on taking down an abusive Hamza. Shefali Shah as Shamshu plays a mother who suggests for separation to Badru instead of repatriation. A parallel surprise love story between Zulfi (Roshan Mathew) and Shamsu created a sweet comedy of error. It is one of the few gems as a film that holds its audience so sweetly that your mind is involved with Badru and Hamza world.
Darlings is one of few films that is hard to put in a single category. Is it black comedy? Yes. Is it a serious social film? Answer still is yes. It's a film with an epic ending. Badru is a go getter in this she moves on with a smile and ends up enjoying a cinema with STATUTORY WARNING: Violence against women is injurious to health.
